The land of Guardian Angel Church was donated by the Brooks family of San Fernando. In 1928, Ander Koerner Contractors, started the construction of the church and was brought to completion in 1929.  

The first Mass was celebrated in the church on March 19th, 1929. Bishop Cantwell dedicated the church in 1929, making it a Mission Church of St. Ferdinand’s in San Fernando serving about 100 families.  

The first priest assigned to Guardian Angel was Fr. Alphonse Jalbert, O.M.I. Fr. Jalbert raised rabbits, chickens and goats, and even had a vegetable garden. He would use these to help the needy families in the parish and rest he would sell to raise money for the church.  

The second priest to come to Guardian Angel was Fr. Robert Koerner, O.M.I. Fr. Koerner was at Guardian Angel for 15 years. During this time he raised money thru parish fund raisers to buy land for Guardian Angel School. The sister’s convent was also started to be built during this time.  

In 1956, Guardian Angel’s status was changed from a Mission Church to a parish. Fr. Paul Stroup was assigned as the first pastor of Guardian Angel Parish. The convent and school were completed during the same year.  

In 1957, the community of sister, the Religious of Jesus and Mary, came to staff the school.  Fr. Paul Stroup was replaced in 1958 by Fr. Mario Matic, who took on the task of building the rectory and Parish Hall. He also started restoration of the church building. 

 In 1966 the parish was given over to Spanish Vincentians with Fr. Narciso Gonzalez becoming pastor.  In 1968 Fr. Celso Garcia replaced Fr. Gonzalez as pastor, and in 190, Fr. Pedro Villarroyo joined Fr. Garcia as associate pastor.  

The Vicentian Fathers were replaced in 1973 by Fr. John Rohde and Fr. George Miller as team ministry. Fr. Ed Soto replaced Fr. Rhode in team ministry.  With the ending of team ministry, Fr. George Miller was appointed pastor on September 01, 1981. 

In 1988 Fr. Vicente Gomez was appointed as pastor. In 1995 Fr. Juan Enriquez took the lead of the parish.  In 2003, Fr. Steven J. Guitron was appointed as pastor of Guardian Angel. Fr. Rafael Lara was appointed pastor in 2017. Construction of the new location for Guardian Angel Church began in May of 2023. 

In July of 2023, Fr. Luis Estrada was appointed Administrator of the parish and is serving this community to the present day.
